APPLIANCE TECHNICIAN

Looking for a change, but you still love the trade? D3S Service is expanding across Huston, TX and surrounding areas, and we're hiring experienced appliance technicians to grow with us. While a lot of shops are cutting back right now, we're adding technicians and territory.

JOB TYPE: Full-time Compensation $32,000 -$45,000/year guaranteed base (during training period), or commission earnings - whichever is higher, per pay period. Most technicians earn meaningfully more ($60,000-$85,000) once route and speed builds up.

ABOUT SLOAN APPLIANCE: We're a factory-certified service provider for Samsung, GE, Electrolux, and Bosch - meaning manufacturers send their warranty and service work directly to us. That steady pipeline of work is why we're growing instead of shrinking, and it's why we invest heavily in the technicians who make that service possible.

YOUR ROLE: A year from now, you'll be running your own route - diagnosing and repairing major appliances in customers' homes, building a reputation for fast, reliable service, and growing your earnings through commission as your efficiency builds. Your territory is designed around your home address, so most days you start and end from home instead of driving to an office.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Diagnose and repair major appliances — refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, freezers, microwaves, and more — in residential, commercial, and apartment/community living settings
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems using schematics, technical manuals, and manufacturer resources to identify the cause of failures and determine the appropriate repair
• Install and test new appliances
• Complete repairs accurately and efficiently, using company technology to support your work
• Explain diagnoses and repair recommendations to customers, property managers, and maintenance staff, addressing questions about repairs, timelines, and costs
• Provide professional, courteous, and exceptional customer service on every job, whether in a private home, apartment community, or commercial property
• Maintain accurate records of parts used, and work performed on every job
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, professional work environment - both on the job site and in your service van

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

• High interest in repairing major household appliances, or equivalent with mechanical/electrical technician role, preferred
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability; comfortable reading schematics and technical manuals
• Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn reading schematics and technical manuals as needed
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues accurately
• Ability to work independently in customers' homes, being detail-oriented and managing time efficiently - remember, you are a guest in their home
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to safely use hand tools and repair equipment
• Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record
• Dependable and professional work habits
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check

Beneficial:

• Background experience with appliance or mechanical repair 1-3 years
• Manufacturer training or certification (Samsung, GE, Electrolux, Bosch)
• EPA 608 certification, or willingness to obtain one
• Good sense of humor and able to roll with the punches
